Tracy Thompson is a Law Society-accredited risk and compliance specialist, with extensive experience supporting law firms and navigating regulatory, governance and quality assurance requirements.

Qualifying as a lawyer in 2008, Tracy has built a specialist career working closely with law firms of all sizes, providing practical, proportionate and commercially aware compliance support.  She is a Law Society-accredited Lexcel Consultant and a Law Society-accredited Lexcel Assessor, and continues to work actively with firms to support compliance, quality standards and ongoing regulatory assurance.

Tracy was appointed to the Law Society Lexcel Panel in 2013, and later appointed as a CQS Lead Assessor in 2019.  While she no longer holds those panel roles, this experience provides valuable insight into assessment methodology, regulatory expectations, and how firms are evaluated in practice.

What sets Tracy's approach apart is her continued hands-on involvement with law firms, supporting them with their day-to-day compliance challenges, while also bringing the independent, objective perspective of an auditor.  This dual experience allows her to understand not only what regulators expect, but how those expectations can be met in a practical, workable and proportionate way.

Tracy often describes this balance as:

"Being a consultant makes me a better auditor, and being an auditor makes me a better consultant."

This approach enables her to identify risk early, provide clear and pragmatic solutions, and support firms in embedding compliance that genuinely works in practice - not just on paper.

Operating as an independent consultant allows Tracy to offer high-quality, cost-effective compliance support without the overheads associated with larger consultancies, while maintaining the professionalism, independence and rigour expected by regulators and accreditation bodies.
